ABOUT THE ARTIST
FLORENCIA CLEMENT DE GRANDPREY

Florencia Clement de Grandprey was born and raised in southern Spain, the daughter of an American mother and a French/Italian father. Since 2004, she has made her home in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Florencia is a self-taught mixed media figurative artist whose mission is to empower and inspire through meaningful and uplifting artwork. Her artistic journey began in late 2014 when she left her full-time job in interior design to follow her true passion: painting.
Without formal training, Florencia has developed a style without rules, granting her the freedom to express herself fully. She blends her love for the classic masters with contemporary design, resulting in unique mixed media paintings.
She began by painting on canvas and incorporating upcycled and repurposed materials like discontinued fabric and paper samples to create backgrounds and “dress” her subjects. Three years into her journey, she discovered the magic of painting directly on upholstery fabric and area rugs, falling in love with the rich effects. The patterns from the fabric intertwine with the image, adding depth and meaning—much like looking beneath the surface of people and life itself.
During the pandemic, Florencia started the series “Guardians of Sacred Space,” her largest pieces to date, ranging from 6’x4’ to 10’x8’. Painted on area rugs, these powerful portraits command attention and infuse spaces with a sense of protection and calm. This series won the “Artista Latina Award” at the prestigious ArtPrize 2021 international contest.
In 2022, she created "In My Eyes," a series painted on vintage Persian area rugs. This series explores life through keen observation and self-reflection, winning the 2-D Public’s Choice Award and the Artista Latina Award at ArtPrize 2022.
Florencia’s work celebrates strong, confident, soul-aligned men and women. She aims to highlight our unique, perfectly imperfect nature, bringing out our strengths and beauty as a reminder of who we truly are. She ensures that a variety of ethnicities are represented, making everyone feel seen and honored in her art.
One of her proudest moments was creating a special 80" x 100" commissioned piece titled "Humble Beginnings" for star Miami Heat basketball player Bam Adebayo in 2023, which now proudly hangs in his Miami home.
Florencia welcomes commissioned work and loves collaborating with clients to create unique pieces that perfectly fit their hearts, spaces, and décor.
